Kindness Day - Monthly Calendar

Mrs. Idaho America Pageant 2016

Mrs. Idaho America Pageant 2016

What an amazing journey I have been on for the last six months. It will take me some time to document it all, talk about adversity I faced, along with amazing triumphs I was able to experience, and discuss the valued lessons I have learned to prepare me for my next mountain that I choose to climb. This will take some time to do, but I look forward to telling my story and shariMelissa Nelson - Mrs Pocatello 2015 - mountains to climbng the full report in the future. It’s been 4 days since the Mrs. Idaho pageant and I am feeling like I am finally getting back into the swing of catching up where Kindness Week left off. I have a few Kindness assemblies to plan for schools, Kindness T-shirt orders to fill and distribute, Kindness Day Annual Planning Calendar to finalize, the ISU Homecoming Parade float put together and plan, and so much more. So, once life seems to settle a bit more, I will be able to tell my story and talk about the pageant as well and my entire experience.

COMING SOON!

This was an interview question asked of me in my interview by one of the judges at the pageant,

“What do you think Success is?”

Yellow Kindness T-shirts EVERYWHERE!

Yellow Kindness T-shirts EVERYWHERE!

I can’t express how amazing it is to see Yellow Kindness T-shirts every where I go around town. Their on children and adults. It’s an amazing sight to see. I have had a chance to experience student receiving their Kindness T-shirts at school and the excitement it creates. I also had to the chance to experience two entire elementary schools all in Kindness T-shirts last Friday. Their principal wanted to get an entire school picture to hang up in their school. I thought that was amazing idea!! But, as I got to witness the behaviors of the students, I noticed how that all had instant smiles on their faces, I could tell it made them feel happier and in turn, it made me feel happy. That’s what Kindness does. Kindness is also contagious, so I knew that no matter what each school would be influenced by the Kindness that was started.

I received many wonderful comments from parents and I appreciate those comments. I also received “Thank You” notes from students, they were very cute and made me smile. I could tell that the t-shirt made our children feel like they were apart of something bigger then themselves. Going through town and seeing Yellow crossing the streets, Yellow all over the playgrounds, Yellow all over town, it just made me feel that all the efforts of many had paid off. Our children were being influences, their homes were being influenced, and I hope that it will continue.

RAISED $17,000!

RAISED $17,000!

I am very grateful for the AMAZING support from sponsors in our Community that believe in the cause to help inspire our children! I can’t express enough how appreciative I am of for their willingness to support the YELLOW “Kindness Begins with ME!” T-shirt. Again, it’s just not another T-shirt with a logo. The color yellow symbolizes “Happiness”, but also resembles my family’s personal story that magnifies the cause. The T-shirt doesn’t have just another Kind logo, but it has a saying that reminds us all where change comes from and how it starts within ourselves. Anyone can inspire change, anyone can make a difference, anyone can have a voice to make a contribution, and I hope for all our children to consider the idea that they can too become their own “WORLD CHANGERS”. It can be within their own friendship circles, out on the playground, on social media, out in their community, and it can spread and influence others around them. I am a believer in doing “Simple Acts of Kindness” it’s what I have been all about from the beginning.

Raising $17,000 provides 6500 T-shirts for all our Elementary School Students in the School District and also give us operating costs to cover the first community order of T-shirts to start our Community T-shirt Fundraiser. We hope by doing this that we can gradually fund other schools in our community. For we have the Middles School, High Schools, and other local schools. We also applied for many grants through the PTA, since they are my non-profit sponsor and if we are granted any of these grants we will fund the other schools with Kindness T-shirts. For Kindness Day is celebrated in the community and throughout the schools, every 3rd Thursday of the month!

Do you like the “Idaho” shape that we added to our t-shirts, thanks to the idea from Terry Frederson, the owner of New Day Products and Resources, here in Pocatello, they are printing our Kindness T-shirts and Terry is a Kindness Movement Committee Member.

I will announce our AWESOME and SUPPORTIVE SPONSORS – Coming Soon!!
