MAY you be KIND to YOURSELF
MAY you be KIND to OTHERS
MAY you be KIND to the EARTH
What an amazing year! It’s crazy to think that we are celebrating our last Kindness Day of the 2015-2016 School Year! No words can ever express my gratitude. Today, I just want each of you to know that I appreciate each of you. The CKM Committee has witnessed such a remarkable year. Our children have the ability to achieve greatness when we show them that we believe they can. Thanks to all the Principals and Teachers who supported our Annual Kindness Program in your schools and classrooms. The program was successful because you lead the effort in leading as a Models of Kindness. Because of you, the Kindness message made an impact on so many students. We hope you all have a wonderful Kindness Day and most importantly a fun and safe summer vacation with your family and friends.
Until Next Year!
If your school has not applied online through our online application and plans on participating next year, we recommend doing so at your earliest convenience.
Next year, will be a first come, first funded basis. If your school is willing to help fundraise for your own Kindness T-shirts, we would greatly appreciate any help offered. We will make available a few options in the Kindness T-Shirt design. We are able to offer school logos on the sleeve if requested and we will have Polo Style Kindness wear available for your faculty next year. The School cost of the Kindness T-Shirts are $3.50 per t-shirt for local pickup orders and $4.50 per t-shirt for shipped orders.
THANK YOU CKM COMMITTEE 2015-2016
Even though each of my CKM Committee Members deserves a Kindness Award, I wanted to surprise them today with their own CKM Cartoon Character! I appreciate everything these individuals have done to contribute to such a great cause and for being believers. These individuals will forever be called my friends. New Day Products, Region 5 PTA, and AllState Helping Hands Volunteer Program helped make this all happen with me. Thank you so much!

MAY 2016 COMMUNITY KINDNESS AWARD
I want to thank the IDAHO PTA! It was only fitting to save them for this May’s Community Kindness Award. I appreciate the PTA partnering up with the CKM in providing a way to implement the program through their parent volunteers. The PTA also played a major role as a Non-Profit sponsor. I couldn’t have done all this without them! Mary Kae Ryner, you’re the best!
MAY 2016 STUDENT KINDNESS AWARD
I had the privilege in visiting Christine Donnell School of the Arts in Boise, Idaho, during the Idaho PTA Convention. I was able to grant the Student Kindness Award to Noah Orton. I was able to surprise Noah in front of all his classmates. All my kids joined me that day and it was fun having them witness me giving out the Kindness Award (since they beg me each month to give it to them). Thank you, Principal Leipf for nominating Noah and for letting us make a visit. I also want to give another shout out to Teresa Costella, their PTA President, for implementing the CKM Program and for their PTA funding all of their Kindness T-Shirts!
WHY I LIKE MY KINDNESS T-SHIRT and 2015 KINDNESS WEEK
The COMMUNITY KINDNESS MOVEMENT has something BIG to SMILE about!
Just as children must be taught to read and write, solve math problems, and understand science concepts and events in history, so must they be guided in developing the qualities of character that are valued by their families and by the communities in which they live.
POCATELLO/CHUBBUCK SCHOOL DISTRICT #25 2015-2016 REPORT
The CKM Committee recently met with Lori Craney of the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District #25, on April 5th. During the meeting, Craney reported that the District has had signficatly fewer incidents of misbehavior reported throughout their Elementary Schools for 2015-2016 school year. This is wonderful news and we have many wonderful Adminstrators, Teachers, School Councilors, PTA/PTO Parent Volunteers, and more that we should thank for this.
Every child has the power to succeed in school and in life. It just takes someone who believes in them. Thank you, to each one of you for making the CKM Proposal a reality. The CKM Committee hopes that we have gained your support for this next coming year. Each Kindness T-Shirt gave a child the feeling that someone believed in them. Having the opportunity to experience entire student bodies in Kindness T-Shirts, was a remarkable sight. The most important thing that will be remembered is how it all made us all feel. The students radiate a natural glow in their demeanor each time we visit our local schools for Kindness Day and/or for a Kindness Assembly. They love them! The Kindness T-Shirt gave them something that each of them long for: TO BELONG, TO FEEL INCLUDED, TO FEEL LOVED, and TO KNOW THAT THEY ARE SOMEBODY! With such encouraging results for the first year, we are excited to make our next announcement for the next year.
Drum Roll Please………..
Dave Bagley has a Masters Degree, in tax law from the University of Florida—recognized nationally as one of the top five tax programs in the country—has made numerous presentations related to estate planning and probate issues, and teaches in the Accounting Department at Idaho State University. After hearing about the CKM from a colleague at Racine Olson Law Firm, Dave invited Melissa Nelson to the ISU College of Business Building to present a CKM Presentation to his Accounting students. After the presentation that included the viewing of the locally produced Kindness video, Dave Bagley offered his professional services and to use his student’s classroom learning time as a project in establishing the Community Kindness Movement as their own Non-Profit Corporation status. Melissa is overjoyed by their generosity and excited about the CKM’s future in continuing on.
“It’s been amazing to see all the wonderful “Models of Kindness” this past year! So many have contributed their talents, time, services, and generous donations in supporting the CKM to help our children. Kindness continues to spread. Dave Bagley and the ISU Accounting students are contributing a futuristic path for the CKM to empower our youth and to help in building better and safer communities across our state. – Thank you!”

Mt. Harrison High School Kindness Assembly – April 21st, 2016
Thank you, Angie Wojick for having my family and I visit Mt. Harrison High School to do a Kindness Assembly. We had a great time interacting with the students. Angie mentioned she read my story in the Pocatello Magazine last year and it inspired her to start the CKM in their High School. Angie raised funds from family members to help fund Kindness T-Shirts. She used the to t-shirts to award students for being Kindness Ambassadors in their school. Angie was very deserving of a Kindness Award. We greatly appreciate her efforts in making a difference in the lives of students. Angie also shared with me how she implemented some of the Acts of Kindness themes to certain days of the week, throughout the entire school year. Such a wonderful idea! Keep up the great work Angie!
From her caring efforts, I was happy to award four Student Kindness Awards to very deserving students at Mt. Harrison High School! It wonderful to hear how they are making a difference in their school and community.
APRIL brought many SMILES, MAY we continue to see Kindness spread!
Mt. Harrison High School Celebrating April’s Kindness Day
Christine Donnell School of the Arts – West Ada School District
Idaho State Legislature – Boise, Id
Last week, I had the privilege in launching Kindness Week for Christine Donnell School of the Arts and attending Legistlative Day with the Idaho PTA Board.
What an amazing sight to see 615 of CDSA students in Yellow “Kindness Begins with ME!” T-shirts! CDSA is a wonderful Arts School with such a caring faculty and PTA. The Kindness Assembly started off with a musical number from their students, our Kindness Assembly (The 6 Scientific Reasons To Perform Kindness), and then Principal Leipf granted 21 Compassion Awards. Hands down, great assembly! A Big Thank you to the CDSA PTA for funding all of their Kindness T-shirts. Teresa Costello, the PTA President, is the individual to thank for getting this all started for their school and to Principal Leipf.

Enjoy the Video!
I highly recommend our Kindness Assembly. If you are a local school in the Pocatello/Chubbuck area, we can plan to do an assembly at your school on our monthly Kindness Days. Please contact us to schedule a date in advance. We have schools out of the area wanting us to come do our Kindness Assembly and are paying our expenses to have us come. This is something that I feel our local schools should take advantage of. We have local AllState Volunteers that help with our local assemblies, with their service hours it donates funding to our next year funds for kindness t-shirts. Thank you, AllState! Our Kindness Assembly is a 45 minute presentation. You can read more HERE. The Kindnses Assembly consists of a video created to engage your students that associates cartoon characters with the beneifts of kindness. The kids LOVE it!
Thank you, KTVB Channel 7 and 6 News in Boise, for coming to the CDSA Kindness Week Launch and for happily reporting on Boise’s first school to implement our CKM Program. I appreciate media that help in our efforts to spread the Kindness message and to bring more awareness to Bullying Prevention.
We had a great day last Wednesday, introducing the CKM to our State House of Representatives and State Senators. Represenative Lance Clow said, “This sounds like a great Bullying Prevention Program that I will have to take back to our schools”. Rep. Clow resides in Twin Falls. Overall, great feedback and exposure. I couldn’t be more grateful to our Idaho PTA Board. I also did a CKM presenation to our Idaho PTA and to students and they too loved the program. We hope to see Kindness to continue to spread throughout our state!
We now have a fully designed Parent Flyer to send out to the Parents before Kindness Week begins. We are continually evolving and adding things that we realize we need to help make the program better and more informative.
A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO:
New Day Products Staff, Terry Frederickson, Kathy Wheatly, Mary Kae Ryner, Melanie Mortensen, Jessie Arnold, Sam Nelson, Connie Longhurst, Carmen Stanger, Teresa Costello, Principal Leipf, CDSA PTA, Idaho PTA Board, and our Idaho State Legislature.
