April Kindness Day – Thursday April 20th, 2017

April Kindness Day is Thursday, April 20th, 2017

April Kindness Theme: Be Kind to Yourself, Be Kind to Others, Be Kind to the Earth!

March taught gratitude. April continues to spring forth  Attitude of Gratitude towards ourselves, others, and our beautiful communities throughout the State of Idaho.

The first Earth Day was held on, April 22, 1970, and today it is celebrated in over 193 countries each year.  Earth Day is on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017. April is a perfect month to teach our children the importance in conserving and beautifying our communities in which we live in.

Does your school currently have a recycling or conserving program that your students can contribute to strengthening this month? If so, perfect! If not, we highly recommend coming up with one that will help teach students the importance in giving back to the environment.

There are MANY great EARTH DAY VIDEO available on Youtube. We suggest finding one that is age appropriate for your classroom. We recommend showing them a video and introducing the Kindness Day Theme the first 10 minutes of class on Kindness Day. We highly recommend coming up with a CONSERVING CHALLENGE for the day or a plan for your classroom to conserve for the entire month of April.

Your School Librarian and/or Teachers can choose to read books during story time that relate to “Being Kind to the Earth”.
